Nicaragua enjoys a tropical climate, with two distinct seasons: the dry season (November to April), and the wet season (May to October). Temperatures are consistent throughout the year, although April is typically considered the hottest month with daily averages of 30+℃.
The highlands generally enjoy cooler nights, so pack a jacket if you plan on visiting. Rainfall is usually short and sharp in Nicaragua.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit on our Nicaragua trips comes down to preference. November to April is Nicaragua’s dry season and the most popular time of year for travel. It’s perfect for sightseeing and beach days. Meanwhile, Nicaragua’s wet season from May to October can be amazing for budget travel, soaking in the green scenery, and spotting tropical wildlife.
Customs & Culture
Nicaragua is a traditional and welcoming country, located in Central America. Punctuality is generally relaxed here. When visiting religious sites or in rural areas, dressing modestly is encouraged. Some more cultural customs include avoiding pointing with your finger, and that “Adios” (“Goodbye”) can also mean “Hello” here.
